Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed strong confidence in Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, following his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Speaking at a colourful event in Jos, Akpabio said Muftwang had already “conquered” Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio described the Plateau governor as the “newest bride” of the APC, welcoming him warmly into the party. Drawing from biblical references, the Senate President likened Muftwang’s name to victory and conquest, declaring that his move to the APC signals another win at the Government House in 2027.
According to Akpabio, the governor’s entry into the ruling party marks a major political shift in the North-Central region. He said the event showed that the APC now has a complete and solid presence across the zone, dismissing claims that the current administration favours one religion or group over another.
The Senate President congratulated Muftwang in advance, noting that his performance as governor and political strength would further boost the APC’s influence in Plateau State. He added that the defection was not just symbolic but a clear statement of political alignment ahead of future elections.
