No casualties as LPG tanker overturns in Kano

An LPG tanker accident along Zaria Road in Kano State ended without loss of life, according to the Kano State Fire Service. The incident happened on Sunday at Imawa area in Kura Local Government Area, a busy section of the highway often used by heavy-duty vehicles.

In a statement released on Monday, the Fire Service spokesperson, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the agency received an emergency alert through its control room. The distress call was raised by a staff member, prompting the immediate deployment of firefighters from the service headquarters to the scene.

On arrival, officials discovered that the LPG tanker, belonging to Ultimate Gas Company, had overturned by the roadside. Despite the danger associated with liquefied petroleum gas, the tanker did not catch fire. Firefighters quickly secured the area, applied safety measures, and ensured the tanker was safely removed, preventing a possible explosion.

Preliminary investigations showed that driver fatigue likely caused the accident. The Fire Service used the opportunity to caution motorists, especially those transporting flammable products, to rest properly and obey traffic rules. Officials stressed that responsible driving is essential to preventing accidents and protecting lives and property.
