New Al-Hilal striker Karim Benzema has sent an emotional message to Al-Ittihad supporters after completing his move to their Saudi Pro League rivals. The French forward chose to remain in Saudi Arabia but turned down a contract extension from Al-Ittihad before joining league leaders Al-Hilal.
Benzema took to social media to thank Al-Ittihad for his time at the club, describing his spell as memorable and rewarding. He expressed appreciation to the club’s management, coaching staff, teammates, and fans, saying the respect and gratitude he feels will remain even though his journey with the club has ended.
The former Real Madrid star joined Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 and played a key role in the club’s success. Alongside stars such as N’Golo Kanté and Fabinho, Benzema helped the team win the Saudi Pro League title in the 2024–25 season, cementing his impact despite spending just over two seasons at the club.
At 38, Benzema remains productive, scoring 16 goals in 21 appearances across competitions this season. Although Al-Ittihad offered him a new contract, the striker reportedly rejected the proposal and later joined Al-Hilal as a free agent, officially closing one chapter and beginning another in his Saudi career.
