A prominent leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement has warned Governor Umaru Yusuf of Kano State, cautioning him against betraying former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. The party chieftain cited the example of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, suggesting that those who turn against Kwankwaso face serious political consequences.
The warning comes amid reports of political disagreements within the party, with some members allegedly positioning themselves against Kwankwaso’s interests. The Kwankwasiyya leader stressed that loyalty to the former governor remains a core value, and disloyalty could damage political careers.
The chief urged Governor Yusuf to tread carefully, noting that the movement has a history of holding members accountable for actions perceived as betrayal. He emphasized that political survival in the region often depends on respecting established party hierarchies and alliances.
Party watchers believe the message is a strategic reminder to maintain cohesion within the Kwankwasiyya faction, ahead of upcoming political contests in Kano State. The statement underscores the influence of Kwankwaso and the weight of loyalty in the party’s internal politics.
