The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking after intercepting more than 1,000 kilograms of cocaine at the Lagos seaport. The operation reportedly followed credible intelligence and careful surveillance, leading to the seizure of the large consignment concealed in cargo containers.
According to NDLEA officials, the illegal substance was smuggled into the country through the port in an attempt to bypass security checks. However, operatives successfully uncovered the drugs during inspection, preventing what would have been one of the biggest drug movements into Nigeria this year.
The agency noted that investigations are ongoing to track down those behind the shipment. Preliminary findings suggest the drugs were part of an organized international network, with local collaborators expected to face prosecution once identified. NDLEA assured Nigerians that officers are intensifying efforts to stop the flow of hard drugs into the country.
Reacting to the development, NDLEA leadership praised the operatives for their vigilance and commitment to protecting the nation. They emphasized that such seizures prove the agency’s readiness to confront traffickers regardless of their tactics or influence. The agency also called on the public to support its campaigns by reporting suspicious activities.
This latest seizure has been widely commended as another significant step in securing Nigerian ports and strengthening the ongoing war against narcotics.
