Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has dismissed allegations that the country permits religious discrimination or persecution. Tuggar explained that Nigeria’s constitution guarantees freedom of religion and protects every citizen, regardless of faith.
Speaking on the issue, the minister stated that no religion is given priority over another in Nigeria, stressing that the nation’s laws strongly uphold equal rights and peaceful coexistence. He added that Nigeria remains committed to promoting unity and respect among all religious communities.
Tuggar emphasised that the government will continue to counter false reports suggesting that people are being targeted because of their faith. According to him, Nigeria values religious diversity and is working constantly to strengthen harmony and mutual respect across the country.
