The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has started mobilizing support groups across all 27 local government areas in the state as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections. The move aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots appeal and build a strong support base early.
This initiative is being led by the Director-General of the party’s Directorate of Support Groups, Diamond Bryan Agu. According to him, the ADC is partnering with civil society groups, NGOs, and other organizations to boost political awareness and voter engagement at the community level.
Speaking during an interactive session with the state party chairman and leaders of different support groups, Agu described the support directorate as the “engine room” for the party’s expected success in 2027. He noted that ADC’s growth is tied to its political values, which include transparency, unity, and fairness.
Agu added that leadership within the ADC is built on trust and merit rather than intimidation or financial influence. “Our support groups are platforms where ideas matter more than money and where serving the people is the real purpose of politics,” he stressed.
He also revealed that besides the ten already registered support groups, fourteen new groups have signaled interest in joining the ADC structure to help deepen grassroots mobilization and expand the party’s reach.
