Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that star forward Kylian Mbappe will take penalties for the club moving forward. Alonso revealed this during his pre-match press briefing ahead of Madrid’s UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday night at Anfield.
When asked about penalty duties, Alonso made it clear that the coaching staff selects the taker, saying, “We decide who will take them, it’s Kylian. Tomorrow, the first taker is Mbappé.” He also noted that players may make decisions on the field in certain situations, but Mbappe remains their top choice.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid last year after leaving French champions Paris Saint-Germain, and the France international has already become one of the most influential players at the club. His arrival brought a new level of excitement and attacking power to Los Blancos.
Since arriving in Spain, Mbappe has been in top form, delivering goals and strong performances across competitions. He has quickly cemented his place as a leader in the squad and a key player in Madrid’s attack.
The 26-year-old striker was the highest goal scorer in both LaLiga and Europe last season, and fans will be expecting another strong showing as Madrid faces Liverpool in this crucial Champions League fixture.
