Ballon d’Or: Arsenal’s Viktor Gyökeres named Best Striker while Luis Enrique crowned coach of the Year

The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday night was filled with excitement as some of the world’s biggest football names were celebrated. Arsenal’s new striker Viktor Gyökeres and Spain’s manager Luis Enrique were among the top winners of the night.

Gyökeres, who impressed last season while playing for Sporting Lisbon before moving to Arsenal in the summer, received the Gerd Müller Trophy for Best Striker of the Year. His outstanding goal-scoring ability helped him beat other top forwards in Europe to win the prize.

Spain’s coach Luis Enrique had a year to remember as he lifted the Johan Cruyff Trophy for Best Coach of the Yearafter guiding Spain to victory in Euro 2025. In the women’s category, England’s Sarina Wiegman received the same coaching honour for her incredible achievements.

The Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper went to Italy and Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma. For the first-ever Women’s Yashin Trophy, Hannah Hampton of Chelsea and England was crowned the winner.

Young footballers also got their moment to shine as Barcelona’s stars stole the show in the youth awards. Lamine Yamalwas named Best Young Male Player, while Vicky López received the Best Young Female Player award.

In the Club of the Year awards, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won in the men’s category, while Arsenal Women claimed the women’s title, showing their dominance at both national and international levels.

The glamorous event in Paris once again proved how football talent is spread across the world, with Arsenal, Barcelona, PSG, and Spain’s national team standing out as some of the biggest winners of the night.
