Ballon d’Or: Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie ranked fourth-best Goalkeeper in the world

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has made Nigeria proud after being ranked as the fourth-best women’s goalkeeper in the world at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards in Paris.

The Nigerian shot-stopper, who currently plays for Paris FC in France, was named among the top five goalkeepers in the first-ever Women’s Yashin Trophy — a new award created to celebrate the best female goalkeepers in the world.

England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made history by winning the first edition of the award. She had a brilliant year, helping England win Euro 2025 and guiding Chelsea to a domestic treble. Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger finished second, while Spain’s Cata Coll took third place.

For Nnadozie, this honor is another major step in her fast-growing career. She became a global star during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where she was named Player of the Match in Nigeria’s surprise win against co-hosts Australia. Since then, she has grown into one of Africa’s best goalkeepers and a vital player for both her club and the Super Falcons.

Hampton’s achievement capped a remarkable season in which she kept 13 clean sheets in the Women’s Super League, won the Golden Glove, and played a key role in England’s European triumph.
