Former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the party as one that now brings failure, pain, and suffering, with no care for ordinary Nigerians.
Amaechi made these remarks in his resignation letter addressed to the APC Ward 8 Chairman in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. The letter was dated July 1, 2025.
Before now, Amaechi had already mentioned publicly that he no longer considers himself a member of the APC. He even said the party is as good as dead.
In his letter, Amaechi explained that his reason for leaving the APC is based on his desire to join hands with other well-meaning Nigerians to save the country from the hardship and disappointment the party now represents.
He added that after thinking deeply and consulting widely, he is sure this is the right time to leave. According to him, the APC has lost its original purpose and can no longer offer Nigerians hope for a better future. He wants to begin a new political journey to help free Nigeria from its current challenges.
Amaechi is now one of the top figures in the new political alliance trying to remove President Bola Tinubu’s government in the 2027 general election.
