A serious road accident happened on Monday, July 7, on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. It involved a commercial Danfo bus and a Toyota Camry car. The Danfo bus somersaulted after the crash, leaving several people injured. The incident caused panic and confusion among commuters, according to Eyes of Lagos.
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) said the accident occurred just before Adekunle Junction, heading towards Lagos Island. After colliding with the Camry, the Danfo bus flipped several times. This made the situation worse and led to many injuries at the scene.
Officers from the RRS, including their bike and patrol teams, quickly arrived at the location to offer help. They gave first aid and started rescue efforts. Policemen from the Adekunle Division also came to assist by controlling traffic and helping the injured passengers.
In an official statement, RRS confirmed the crash involved a Danfo bus and a Toyota Camry. Several people were hurt as the bus flipped over many times. Both RRS teams and the Adekunle police were on the ground to support the rescue and offer medical assistance.
The exact number of people injured has not been confirmed yet. But people who saw the accident said many passengers were hurt in different ways. Emergency teams took some of them to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.
Drivers using the Third Mainland Bridge were warned to be careful because traffic became very heavy after the crash. Officials have been working to remove the damaged vehicles and ease the traffic.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigeria Police are expected to begin a full investigation. Eyewitnesses said speeding and reckless lane switching may have caused the accident.
