Mokwa Flood: IBB describes incident as act of God, commiserates with victims

He described the event as very unfortunate and shared his sympathy with the people affected. Babangida’s message was directed at not just Mokwa, but the entire state, as many people have been affected by the disaster.

The elder statesman made these comments during a visit from the Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, and his team.
They came to Babangida’s home in Minna to pay him a Sallah visit and offer their respect. During the meeting, they discussed the sad incident and its impact on the state.

General Babangida said the flood was a painful event, but he believes it happened by God’s will.
He encouraged people in Niger State to remain strong and continue praying for the souls of those who died in the disaster.

He also took time to appreciate the current state government, led by Governor Umaru Bago, for its development efforts.
IBB urged the administration to stay committed to improving the state and assured them that he would continue to support their work.

Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, who led the delegation, said the visit was to seek Babangida’s blessings and advice.
He noted that the former president’s concern for the people of Mokwa has always been clear and thanked him for standing by the state in difficult times.
