UCL: He plays with fear because of Mbappe – Mijatovic blames Real Madrid star after 3-0 defeat

Former Real Madrid director Predrag Mijatovic says that Vinicius Junior is not playing with confidence anymore since Kylian Mbappe joined the club.

Real Madrid lost 3-0 to Arsenal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal scored all three goals in the second half, with two coming from Declan Rice’s free kicks and the third from Mikel Merino.

While Arsenal’s attackers played very well, Real Madrid’s front three did not perform as expected. Vinicius Junior, who plays on the left wing, had a tough game. He tried three dribbles but failed to complete any.

Mijatovic believes that Vinicius is feeling pressure because of Mbappe’s presence. Speaking to Cadena SER, he said, “Since Mbappe arrived, Vinicius has shown a bit of fear – he looks unsure of what to do. He might be trying too hard to prove to Real Madrid fans that he’s the better player. But so far, they haven’t played as well as expected.”

So far this season, Vinicius has played 43 matches for Real Madrid in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 14 assists.

Vinicius will have a chance to make a comeback when Arsenal visit Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday for the second leg of the quarter-final.
