A retired police officer, Charles Atideka, has reportedly taken his own life after killing three people, including two of his family members, in Lagos.

The incident happened in the early hours of April 1, 2025, in the Yovoyan community, Badagry. Reports suggest the tragedy stemmed from a long-standing land dispute.

According to sources, Atideka, along with an accomplice, allegedly shot and killed Richard Atideka and Latevi Atideka, both from Yovoyan, as well as Muji Onilude from the neighboring Gberefu community.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. He stated that after committing the act, Atideka consumed a poisonous substance. He was rushed to the hospital but was later confirmed dead.

Authorities have since transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.

This tragic event has left the community in shock as investigations continue.
