Adebanjo: ‘We all have to die one day’ – Atiku visits home of late Afenifere leader

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emphasized that death is something no one can escape. He made this statement during his visit to the home of the late Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo. Atiku described Adebanjo’s passing as a huge loss for Nigeria.

Since his passing, many notable figures have visited his home to pay their respects. Among them are former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo passed away at the age of 96 on February 14, 2025, at his home in Lekki, Lagos. His family confirmed the news.

During his visit, Atiku reflected on Adebanjo’s influence. He recalled previous visits to his home and the values Adebanjo upheld throughout his life. Atiku praised his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and peaceful coexistence.

“We all have to leave this world one day, but Pa Adebanjo lived a meaningful life,” Atiku said. He described the late leader as a father figure, adviser, and mentor. Atiku assured the family that he and others who admired Adebanjo would continue to honor his legacy.

He concluded by offering his condolences and support to the bereaved family, saying, “Honoring him means honoring the family he left behind.”
