Solskjaer Upset Over Manchester United’s Decision to Sell McTominay

Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has shared his disappointment over the club’s choice to sell midfielder Scott McTominay.

United sold McTominay to Napoli last summer for £25 million, but they have struggled to find a proper replacement. Meanwhile, McTominay has been in excellent form in Italy, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 27 games. Under manager Antonio Conte, he has helped Napoli climb to second place in the league.

In contrast, Manchester United has had a tough season under new manager Ruben Amorim. They are currently 14th in the Premier League after 27 matches and were recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham, losing on penalties.

Solskjaer, who was also sacked as United’s manager, spoke to The Athletic about the situation. He said he enjoys watching Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire perform well but regrets the club’s decision to sell McTominay.

“I’m upset that we let him go because he was important last season when he kept scoring key goals. His heart and knowledge of the club’s culture were valuable,” Solskjaer said.

McTominay played 115 games under Solskjaer at Manchester United, scoring 14 goals and assisting three times. Now, as he thrives in Italy, United continues to struggle in England.
