The Nigerian Army has recorded major victories in its fight against terrorism, neutralizing several insurgents and recovering a large cache of weapons in different parts of the country.

According to an official statement, troops in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State launched a well-planned attack on a terrorist hideout on March 1, 2025.

The operation was based on intelligence reports that the insurgents were regrouping to attack nearby villages. The soldiers overpowered the terrorists, eliminating many and seizing deadly weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), machine guns, and ammunition.

During a separate mission in Unguwan Abdullahi, troops destroyed terrorist hideouts and uncovered hidden stockpiles of food meant to sustain the criminals. As they advanced toward Garin Fallujah, soldiers engaged the terrorists in a fierce battle, forcing them to flee.

Among those neutralized was Abba Alai (Amirul Khahid of Alafa), a notorious terrorist leader wanted by security forces. The troops recovered more weapons, including AK-47 rifles and ammunition.

In Ukuba Forest, the army discovered and seized heavy military-grade weapons, including General-Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), an armored tank engine, and other high-powered equipment.

The fight against insecurity also extended to Zamfara State, where troops clashed with another group of terrorists, neutralizing one while the rest escaped in panic, abandoning their motorcycles.

Meanwhile, in Kwara State, soldiers raided a kidnappers’ hideout in Karunji village, Baruten Local Government Area. The criminals fled on sighting the advancing troops, leaving behind their captives. The rescue operation led to the recovery of guns, motorcycles, and other items.
