Ukraine: Change course or resign – Trump allies pressure Zelenskyy

Top officials in Washington are pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to either start peace talks with Russia or step down. This comes after a tense meeting at the White House, where former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance clashed with Zelenskyy. The argument raised global concerns about the future of Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

Last week, Zelenskyy met with Trump and Vance in the Oval Office. The discussion quickly turned into a heated argument, forcing Zelenskyy to leave early without signing a planned minerals deal.

JD Vance took an aggressive stance, acting as Trump’s main enforcer. The clash shocked world leaders and left many wondering what will happen next in the war.

During the meeting, Zelenskyy defended Ukraine’s position. He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of breaking a 2019 ceasefire and called him a killer and terrorist. However, Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, said the U.S. was unsure if Zelenskyy was ready to negotiate an end to the war.

Trump wants to secure a permanent peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. His proposed plan may require Ukraine to give up some land in exchange for European-led security guarantees.

Meanwhile, European leaders continue to stand with Zelenskyy. At a meeting in London, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged leaders to increase their defense support for Ukraine.

The situation remains uncertain. Will Zelenskyy agree to peace talks, or will he face more pressure to step aside? As global leaders take sides, the future of Ukraine’s war with Russia hangs in the balance.
