The conflict between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has drawn widespread reactions. Amid the controversy, a top APC leader in Delta State, Chief Ayirimi Emami, has called for peace.
The disagreement gained public attention after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of victimizing her for rejecting his alleged advances. She made this claim during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday.
In a statement on Saturday, Chief Emami urged both senators to stop the conflict. He warned that some people might use the situation to distract Nigerians and undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He pointed out that the ongoing media battle has shifted attention away from the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget, which President Tinubu signed into law on February 28.
According to him, Nigerians should focus on the budget’s impact on the country instead of the dispute between the two senators.
Emami also stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Senate. He revealed that APC leaders in the South-South are working to resolve the issue, describing Senator Natasha as “our sister-in-law.”
He appealed to both lawmakers to settle their differences for the nation’s sake. “With God’s help and the wisdom of our ancestors, the issue will be resolved soon,” he assured.
