Armed bandits attacked a trailer loaded with food in Matashayi Zaki, along the Dansadau/Gusau road, killing eight people and kidnapping several others. The attack happened around 6:00 PM after military escorts left the trailer behind.

According to reports, vehicles cannot travel on this road without military escorts due to frequent bandit attacks. However, the escorts do not wait for vehicles that delay their movement.

Local sources revealed that the military charges high fees to escort people between Gusau and Dansadau. A resident, Ishiaku Muhammad, said villagers are struggling because of these payments.

“We have no choice because we fear the bandits. The army says they have a military station in Dansadau, but it has not made any difference,” he said.

Due to the rising attacks, the Federal Government set up a military station in Dansadau to reduce bandit activities. However, the attacks have continued despite the military presence.
