Despite the ongoing leadership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly, lawmakers have shown their support for Speaker Princess Mojisola Meranda.
On Monday, 36 lawmakers passed a vote of confidence in Meranda, affirming their trust in her ability to continue leading the Assembly.
Oladipo Ajomale, the representative for Oshodi/Isolo 2, moved the motion, stressing that Meranda had been duly elected by the lawmakers and they believe in her leadership.
Aro Moshood seconded the motion, and all 34 other lawmakers supported the vote of confidence.
Earlier, the Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, saw increased security as operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force were deployed to maintain order during the plenary session.
Following the vote of confidence, the House adjourned until further notice. This vote highlights the unity among the majority of lawmakers in backing the Speaker, even amidst the ongoing crisis.
