In the early hours of Thursday, bandits kidnapped the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retired), in Tsiga village, located in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack, which occurred at 12:30 am, also led to the death of one person, with at least nine others being abducted.
The bandits, armed and dangerous, caused panic by shooting randomly in the air as they stormed the community. Several homes were ransacked, and valuables were stolen.
Eyewitnesses reported the chaos, but when contacted, the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, did not provide any further comment at the time.
The attack has raised concerns over safety in the region as such incidents continue to disturb the peace.
