The Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Government, Moukhtar Lugga, narrowly escaped an attack by gunmen on Thursday evening. The incident happened along the Funtua–Gusau road.
Reports say the attack occurred near Kucheri around 6:16 pm when armed men ambushed his vehicle. The assailants reportedly fired from different directions in what appeared to be a planned assault.
Despite the heavy gunfire, neither Lugga nor his driver was injured. The driver quickly maneuvered the vehicle away from the scene, helping them escape safely.
A bullet hole was later found on the vehicle’s front windscreen, showing how close the attack came. The incident has raised fresh concerns about security in the area.
As of now, security agencies have not released an official statement regarding the attack. Investigations are expected to begin to identify those responsible.
The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of northern Nigeria, with calls for stronger measures to protect public officials and citizens.
