The Benue State House of Assembly held a public hearing on four bills aimed at boosting governance and service delivery in the state.
Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Lami Danladi Lawrence noted the exercise reflects the Assembly’s commitment to listening to citizens’ needs.
One key bill proposes free treatment for snakebite victims in public hospitals and the establishment of a control committee for coordinated response.
Lawmakers are also reviewing a bill to create the Benue State Road Maintenance Agency (BENROMA) to improve infrastructure management.
Other proposals include establishing a Forestry, Mines and Solid Minerals Management Commission and repealing and re-enacting the Benue State Local Government Law of 2007.
The public hearing allowed traditional leaders, civil society groups, and citizens to contribute, ensuring the laws reflect collective interests and strengthen governance.
