Lionel Messi scores 900th career goal

Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi, reached a major milestone by scoring his 900th career goal. He achieved this during Miami’s 1-1 draw against Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup second leg on Wednesday.

Messi became only the second male footballer in history to reach 900 goals, joining Cristiano Ronaldo, who previously achieved the feat.

The Argentine star opened the scoring within the first 10 minutes, cutting inside and firing across the goal to give Miami the lead, before Cristian Espinoza equalized.

Messi needed 1,142 matches to hit 900 goals, while Ronaldo reached the milestone in 1,236 games. Brazilian legend Pele ranks third with 765 goals.

Of Messi’s 900 goals, 672 came for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, 81 for Inter Miami, and 115 for Argentina.

Despite reaching the landmark, Miami was eliminated from the competition after the 1-1 draw, but Messi’s historic achievement continues to solidify his status as one of football’s greatest.
