Islamic scholar Shuaeb Adegbite has advised political leaders to embrace prophetic teachings in governance, prioritising public welfare above party or personal interests.
Adegbite stated that ethical and spiritual leadership promotes peace, justice, and sustainable development, offering a moral compass for decision-making.
Speaking at a Ramadan lecture in Imeko-Afon, he highlighted Prophet Muhammad’s leadership values such as accountability, fairness, and compassion, often missing in today’s politics.
He warned that corruption, self-interest, and conflict undermine progress and called for value-driven governance that encourages openness, inclusivity, and service to the people.
Adegbite urged youths to engage in politics with honesty and purpose, becoming agents of positive change rooted in moral conviction.
He also encouraged stronger cooperation between government, religious bodies, and traditional institutions to foster inclusive development and enhance societal trust.
