The Kaduna State government says it is working to transform agriculture and strengthen the livestock sector in the state. Governor Uba Sani made this known during the launch of a livestock support program aimed at helping thousands of farmers across the state.
Represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, the governor said the initiative includes distributing solar-powered freezers, feed millers, poultry feed, and 200,000 day-old chicks to farmer cooperatives across the 23 local government areas.
According to the government, about 5,000 farmers organised into cooperatives will benefit directly from the intervention. The goal is to improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and create more income opportunities for farmers, especially women and young people.
Sani added that the state has also invested in veterinary clinics, livestock vaccinations, and improved slaughter facilities. He said the long-term plan is to position Kaduna as a leading agricultural hub that can feed Nigeria and export agricultural products globally.
