Several Democratic senators in the United States have called for a full investigation into a deadly attack on a girls’ school in Minab, southern Iran. The lawmakers described the incident as shocking and demanded clear answers from the US military.
In a joint statement, the senators said they were deeply disturbed by reports that the bombing killed at least 170 people, many of them schoolchildren. They insisted that any strike involving civilians must be carefully reviewed and explained to the public.
The attack reportedly happened during the first phase of joint military operations involving the United States and Israel against Iran. New video evidence circulating online suggests the school may have been hit by a Tomahawk missile.
Some senators argued that if US weapons were involved, the Pentagon must provide transparency and explain how the tragedy occurred. They also said Congress and the American public deserve accurate information about the strike.
Among those calling for the investigation are Brian Schatz, Jeanne Shaheen, Jack Reed and Elizabeth Warren. The lawmakers stressed that the incident must be examined fairly and independently.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has suggested that Iran may have been responsible for the bombing. However, Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon is still investigating the incident as pressure grows for a transparent review.
