Iran is ready for a long war with the US and only economic pain will end it – Iranian official

A senior Iranian official has said the country is ready for a prolonged conflict with the United States. Kamal Kharazi explained that Iran believes the war could continue unless strong economic pressure forces other countries to step in and push for peace.

Speaking during an interview, Kharazi said diplomacy is currently unlikely. He accused Donald Trump of failing to keep promises during previous negotiations, claiming Iran was attacked even while talks were ongoing.

According to the adviser, Iran hopes growing economic difficulties across the region could encourage other nations, especially Gulf countries, to intervene and persuade the United States and Israel to end the conflict. He said rising inflation, energy shortages and market instability could push international leaders to act.

The ongoing fighting has already affected global energy markets. Attacks in the region have disrupted shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, a major pathway for global oil supply, causing crude oil prices to surge above $100 per barrel.

Iran has also launched strikes against several targets it claims are linked to US interests across the Middle East. However, reports suggest some residential buildings and airports have also been damaged during the attacks, raising concerns about civilian safety.

Meanwhile, Iran recently elevated Mojtaba Khamenei to a top leadership role after the era of Ali Khamenei. The move signals that Tehran may continue its strong military stance as tensions with the US and its allies remain high.
