DUFUHS matriculates 1044 students for 2025/2026 academic session

The Vice-Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Professor Jesse Uneke, has matriculated 1,044 students for the 2025/2026 academic session during the university’s 5th Matriculation and Open Day in Uburu, Ebonyi State. The institution aims to curb medical and educational tourism in Nigeria.

Professor Uneke highlighted that DUFUHS maintains high academic standards with PhD-qualified lecturers, digitalised processes for admission and examinations, and early exposure of students to research and international academic databases. Each student has access to at least 300 electronic textbooks in their discipline.

The university enforces strict on-campus residence, well-equipped classrooms and laboratories, regulated movement, and enhanced security. Departments such as Nursing Science and Medicine & Surgery admitted hundreds of students, with female students outnumbering males.

Uneke praised federal government reforms under Bola Ahmed Tinubu, support from TETFund, and ASUU agreements for strengthening academic stability. The university has grown from 26 students in 2022 to 3,759, reflecting rapid development and increased capacity since NUC recognition in 2021.
