The United States Department of State has confirmed that about 28,000 American citizens have safely returned to the United States from different parts of the Middle East since tensions in the region escalated on February 28.
According to Assistant Secretary Dylan Johnson, the number does not include Americans who have relocated to other countries or those still traveling back home after leaving the region.
The State Department also said it organised several charter flights to evacuate thousands of citizens from affected areas. These efforts were part of a broader plan to ensure the safety of Americans amid the ongoing conflict.
Meanwhile, the United States Embassy in Israel announced special bus services for Americans in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to the Taba Border Crossing, allowing them to exit Israel through Egypt.
