The Police Service Commission has promoted seven Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) to Deputy Inspectors-General (DIGs) to strengthen the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force. The promotions followed merit-based assessments, including seniority, service record, and exams.
The newly promoted DIGs include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and Umar Shehu Nadada. They will now join the Force Management Team to oversee strategic operations.
The promotions were necessary to fill vacancies left by the retirement of eight DIGs and to continue effective management of key police units across the country. PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.) congratulated the officers and urged them to prioritize national security and collaboration with the commission.
Members of the PSC Board, including Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (retd.) and Dr Taiwo Lakanu (retd. DIG), served as examiners during the exercise. The commission emphasized that the selections were based on merit and professionalism to ensure continued development of the police force.
