CSO’s claims of irregularities in my NYSC, Law School attendance unfounded – Deputy Speaker, Kalu

The office of the Deputy Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has rejected allegations questioning his participation in the National Youth Service Corps and attendance at the Nigerian Law School. The claims were raised by a coalition known as the Civil Society Groups for Good Governance.

In a statement, Kalu’s office described the accusations as baseless and politically motivated. It said the claims were part of a smear campaign aimed at damaging the Deputy Speaker’s reputation.

The statement added that Kalu’s credentials have been verified at several stages during his career and that he remains a qualified legal practitioner. The office also noted that similar claims surfaced during political contests in 2023 but were dismissed in legal proceedings.

Kalu’s office urged the public to ignore unverified allegations and allow proper institutions to handle any petitions. It also stressed that the Deputy Speaker remains committed to his legislative duties and national development.
