The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has said it has not received any distress calls from Nigerians living in Iran. This comes as tensions continue between Iran, the United States, and Israel.
According to NiDCOM’s media director, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, while Nigerians may be in Iran, none has officially contacted the commission for help. He clarified that the absence of calls does not mean there are no Nigerians in the country.
The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reportedly monitoring the situation closely as the crisis unfolds across the Middle East.
Balogun also explained that flight cancellations in the region are due to security concerns, noting that airlines cannot operate in active conflict zones unless there is a temporary ceasefire for evacuations.
