Nigerian Govt approves N48 billion to 12 selected universities

The Federal Government has approved N48 billion for engineering improvements in 12 selected universities across Nigeria. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the decision in Abuja during the inauguration of the TETFund Special High-Impact Intervention Projects committee.

Each institution will receive N4 billion to either upgrade existing engineering facilities or build new workshops where needed. The minister also revealed that an extra N20 billion has been included in the 2026 TETFund guidelines to support similar projects in other universities.

The beneficiary schools include Federal Universities of Technology in Minna, Akure, Babura, Ikot-Abasi and Owerri, as well as Nigerian Army University Biu and African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja, among others.

Other institutions listed are Shehu Shagari University of Education, Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, University of Ilesha, Delta State University, and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. The move is aimed at strengthening engineering education nationwide.
