The newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has arrived at Aso Rock Presidential Villa for his swearing-in ceremony. His appearance at the Villa officially marks the start of his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
President Bola Tinubu announced Disu’s appointment on Tuesday, replacing former IGP Kayode Egbetokun. The change in leadership signals a new chapter for the nation’s police structure.
Disu is a seasoned officer with over 30 years of experience in the force. Born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island, he joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, and steadily climbed the ranks.
Many observers believe his years of service and experience will play a key role in addressing security challenges and strengthening public confidence in policing across the country.
