Labour Party National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, has urged Julius Abure and his supporters to return to party leadership through elections at the upcoming national congress. She emphasized putting personal interests aside for the party’s unity and progress.
Usman highlighted that anyone interested in leadership positions should contest openly, and if they win, they will be duly recognised in their roles. The call follows the Federal High Court ruling that affirmed Usman as the legitimate leader of the party.
The court had ordered INEC to recognise the Usman-led caretaker committee as the only valid authority pending the national convention. Despite this, Abure’s faction has refused to step down, claiming they are still in charge.
Speaking at a stakeholders summit in Abuja, Usman appealed for cooperation, stressing that party members should focus on collective growth and sustainable political impact rather than individual ambitions.
