Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has called for closer cooperation with the Taraba State Judiciary to tackle corruption and financial crimes more effectively. The appeal was made in Jalingo during a visit by Makurdi Zonal Director Effa Okim to Chief Judge Joel Agya.
Okim said stronger partnership between investigators and courts would help deter corruption and rebuild public trust in governance. He warned that misuse of public funds deprives citizens of development and damages Nigeria’s reputation globally.
The EFCC official praised the judiciary’s support so far, stressing that sustained teamwork is key to removing financial offenders from the system. He added that the anti-graft agency remains committed to enforcing accountability, even when prosecution leads to jail terms.
Justice Agya assured the commission of continued backing, describing the courts as a central pillar in upholding justice and rule of law. He noted that deeper collaboration, training, and information sharing would strengthen transparency and improve anti-corruption outcomes.
