Ramadan: Bauchi reduces working hours for civil servants

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved reduced working hours for civil servants during the 2026 Ramadan fasting period. The move aims to help Muslim workers observe Ramadan and participate in religious activities.

The directive, issued in a circular dated 17 February 2026 by Ismail Ibn L. Garam, Director of Establishments, was addressed to the Chief of Staff, Government House. It specifies adjusted office hours for civil servants across the state.

From Monday to Thursday, offices will close at 3:00 p.m., while Friday closing time remains at 1:00 p.m. The adjustment is intended to support workers’ spiritual observance and promote their well-being during the holy month.

The circular encouraged civil servants to use Ramadan as a time to pray for Bauchi State’s progress, development, and peaceful coexistence. The new working hours will remain in effect throughout the 1447AH/2026 Ramadan period.
