Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has surpassed former club star Kaka’s UEFA Champions League goal record. The 25-year-old scored the only goal in the first leg of Real Madrid’s Round of 16 tie against Benfica in Portugal.
Vinicius’ strike, coming in the second half, gave Real Madrid a 1-0 victory over Jose Mourinho’s side ahead of the return leg in Spain. The goal takes his Champions League tally to 31, overtaking Kaka’s 30 goals.
The Brazilian international is now the second-highest-scoring Brazilian in Champions League history. He trails Neymar, who leads with 43 goals, but is ahead of Kaka.
The top three Brazilian scorers in the competition are Neymar with 43 goals, Vinicius with 31, and Kaka with 30. This milestone further cements Vinicius’ place among Europe’s elite forwards.
