Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Alleged Murder of Employer in Onitsha

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with the alleged murder of his employer, identified simply as IK, in Onitsha on the morning of February 16.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident occurred following a disagreement between the deceased and his apprentice.

According to the police, the deceased had reprimanded the suspect over alleged misconduct, including pilfering shop proceeds, drug use, and repeatedly returning home late at night.

The situation reportedly escalated, during which the suspect allegedly retrieved a pestle from the kitchen and struck his employer on the head. The victim collapsed and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody, and the alleged weapon—a pestle—has been recovered as evidence.
