There was light political drama on Monday when Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, jokingly urged Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, to consider joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Sule made the remark during the public presentation of a book titled “Fintiri, the man they could not stop,” drawing laughter and attention from guests at the event.
Governor Sule said he came prepared with “Tinubu’s cap”, suggesting it was ready in case Fintiri decided to cross over to the APC. According to him, the Adamawa governor already shares values aligned with the ruling party. He added that both leaders often see issues from similar perspectives, hinting that Fintiri would feel at home within the APC fold.
Expanding on his statement, Sule referenced recent political movements across several states, including Delta, Enugu, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Kano, Plateau, and Taraba, suggesting that political realignments are becoming more common. He jokingly implied that Adamawa could be next, describing his visit as a possible “expedition” with political significance.
On a serious note, the Nasarawa governor spoke about the burden of leadership, especially during a second term in office. He said governing requires courage, patience, and strong conviction, noting that leadership is not about seeking popularity but about clear purpose, consistency, service, and the fear of God. His remarks were widely seen as both praise for Fintiri’s leadership style and a subtle political invitation.
