The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has raised concerns over the continued closure of the Oke-Fia flyover in Osogbo, questioning the Osun State Government’s infrastructure planning and priorities. The party noted that despite the bridge being completed several months ago, it has not been opened to the public, yet traffic movement around the area has remained largely smooth. This, APM argued, casts doubt on the necessity of the project.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Osun State chairman of APM, Adewale Adebayo, said the lack of traffic congestion around Oke-Fia shows that the flyover was not critical to easing movement in the axis. According to him, residents and commuters have continued their daily activities without major disruption, even with the bridge closed. He described the situation as evidence that the project may not have addressed a real transportation challenge.
APM further questioned the planning process behind the N10.7 billion flyover, suggesting that proper feasibility and traffic impact studies may not have been carried out before public funds were spent. Adebayo, who is also the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 election, recalled that the party had earlier warned against what it described as an unfocused N100 billion infrastructure plan announced by the state government in 2023. He claimed that the expected statewide impact of the projects has not been clearly felt.
The party also criticised the alleged uneven distribution of projects under the state’s N150 billion infrastructure programme, claiming that many completed roads are concentrated in Ede, the governor’s hometown. APM called on the Osun State Government to publish full details of all projects executed so far, including contractors and contract sums, insisting that transparency will help citizens assess whether public resources are being wisely used across the state.
