COAS vows to ensure peace, security in Plateau

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has vowed that the Nigerian Army will ensure peace and security in Plateau State. He gave the assurance while addressing concerns over recurring security challenges in the state, stressing that protecting lives and property remains a top priority for the military.

According to the Army Chief, the Nigerian Army is reviewing its strategies and strengthening ongoing operations to deal decisively with criminal activities and communal violence in the area. He noted that troops deployed to Plateau are committed to restoring calm and preventing further breakdown of law and order.

The COAS also called for the cooperation of residents, traditional rulers, and community leaders, explaining that security efforts are more effective when citizens share timely information with security agencies. He urged communities to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence, adding that the army alone cannot achieve lasting peace without public support.

He reassured the people of Plateau that the military will continue to work closely with other security agencies and the state government to sustain peace. The COAS said the army remains determined to create a safe environment where residents can go about their daily activities without fear.
