Former Senator and activist, Shehu Sani, has called on young Nigerians to reduce time spent on social media platforms like Facebook, X, and Instagram, and actively participate in politics. He believes that real change comes from engagement in governance and decision-making, not just online debates.
Sani urged the youth to run for office, join political parties, and take part in policy discussions that affect their communities. According to him, social media activism alone cannot solve the country’s challenges.
He also highlighted the power of youth participation in shaping Nigeria’s future. Sani stressed that young people hold the key to reforms in education, security, economy, and governance if they take politics seriously.
Finally, Sani encouraged Nigerians to channel their energy from online platforms into meaningful political action. He said that by entering politics, the youth can directly influence decisions, hold leaders accountable, and contribute to national development.
