Russia and Iran have discussed the rising tensions in the Middle East following the recent military actions by the United States and Israel. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke by phone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi about the situation. Both officials described the strikes as harmful to regional stability.
Lavrov restated Russia’s opposition to the attacks during a United Nations Security Council meeting. He called for the protection of civilians and stressed the need for dialogue instead of force. Moscow also signaled its willingness to support diplomatic efforts to calm the crisis.
Meanwhile, the conflict has spread across the region. Reports say Iranian drones and missiles have affected parts of the Gulf, including incidents near U.S. facilities in Dubai and Riyadh, causing limited damage.
Israel has also intensified operations against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents in several communities, urging them to move away from targeted areas.
