A jury in Georgia has found Colin Gray guilty of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter over his son’s 2024 school shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder. Prosecutors said he allowed his teenage son access to a firearm used in the attack. The verdict was reached after less than two hours of deliberation.
The shooting left two students and two teachers dead, with several others injured. Colt Gray, who was 14 at the time, has pleaded not guilty in his own separate criminal case. His trial will address multiple serious charges linked to the incident.
Prosecutors argued that the father ignored warning signs and failed to properly secure the weapon. They said parents have a responsibility to prevent harm, especially when there are concerns about a child’s mental health.
The defense maintained that the father should not be held legally responsible for his son’s actions. Colin Gray now faces the possibility of life in prison, with sentencing expected at a later date.
