Ex-minister Kemi Adeosun Backs Tax Reforms

Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has expressed support for the federal government’s ongoing tax reform efforts. She said the reforms are important for strengthening Nigeria’s economy and improving how government raises revenue without relying too heavily on borrowing.

Adeosun explained that Nigeria needs a fair and efficient tax system that encourages compliance while reducing waste and leakages. She added that when taxes are properly managed, they help fund education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure that benefit citizens directly.

She also urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of tax revenue. According to her, people will be more willing to pay taxes when they trust that their money is being used wisely and for public good.

The former minister called on citizens, businesses, and tax authorities to work together to make the reforms successful. She believes that if properly implemented, the new tax measures can help stabilize public finances and support long-term national development.
