Transfer: PSG reject Chelsea bid for Super Falcons midfielder

Paris Saint-Germain have firmly rejected an approach from Chelsea for Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini, making it clear that the Nigerian star is not for sale. Reports indicate that the French champions see Echegini as a central figure in their long-term plans and are unwilling to entertain negotiations at this time.

According to French journalist Benjamin Suarez of Le Parisien, PSG consider the 24-year-old midfielder “untouchable” due to her growing influence in the squad. Echegini joined the Paris club from Italian giants Juventus in June 2024 and has since impressed with her performances in midfield.

Echegini is under contract with PSG until June 2027, giving the club a strong position in transfer discussions. Her rising profile has also been reflected in her market value, as she is currently ranked among Africa’s top five most valuable female footballers.

The midfielder remains a national hero in Nigeria after scoring the decisive goal in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco, sealing the title for the Super Falcons. With PSG shutting the door on Chelsea’s interest, Echegini looks set to continue her development in Paris for the foreseeable future.
